The Bible says: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." 1 Peter 2: 9. This is a very different description from the one we have for ourselves. We see ourselves so small and insignificant. Can you appreciate the greatness that God sees in us? But then, considering that we were created in His image and likeness, it couldn’t be otherwise. We are the workmanship of His Hands, and even when we went astray, our Lord Jesus Christ came and paid the debt we thought we had with God, "For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." 1 Corinthians 6:20. So we don’t belong to ourselves.  We are part of the Kingdom of God, His beloved children and His ambassadors on this earth.  We have great responsibilities, but His rewards are even greater. This is not something that should cause us dread. Perhaps the notion is new to some, but, nevertheless, it is His truth, and we must adjust our mentality to that idea. The sooner we do it, the sooner we will take our place in the Kingdom and act according to His plan.

You might want to step back thinking "I'm not ready!" and perhaps you are not, but if you are willing to enroll as a student to learn how to take your rightful place as the son of God, He will teach you. The Lord Jesus gave His disciples an intensive course. His Word says, "He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when He was alone with His own disciples, He explained everything." Mark 4:34. He was their Teacher, and spent moments of solitude with His disciples training them for the work they would do once He physically departed from among them. Even now, all God is expecting from us is our willingness. He will give us the training, and when He decides we are ready, He will send us. Through His training, you will know what your beliefs are and why you have those beliefs.  You will reach conviction.  You will get to know yourself. You will be receiving as much information as you can assimilate. You will move at your own pace and advance as fast as you want. The knowledge you will gain carries in itself the impulse to be shared.  You want to share it, and you would do it even though no one is actually asking you, because you believe in the cause you are representing.

Under the guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ we will travel light and journey lightly, because He knows the way, and His sight is always on the journey's end, which is His goal. He will teach us how to get rid of the excess baggage we carry that makes our journey so difficult.  We still see some of our fellow men as people with whom we have to compete, and others we see as enemies, but we will learn to love them and see them as brothers.  We will wish to help them in their journey since we all have the same destination. We will learn to enjoy our brother's accomplishments as if they were our own.  Let us then remember as soon as possible that we are God’s children, and that we have the assignment to represent Him while we are here.  We need to help each other because this is not a journey that we can make alone.  We need the guidance of our Lord Jesus Christ and our brothers by our side. There is one way to prove to yourself that you are moving forward:  see yourself with honesty, how you really are now.  Do you see yourself producing the fruits of the Holy Spirit that the Apostle Paul talks about? “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5: 22-23.

Although we are in the world, we don’t belong to the world.  We are citizens of the Kingdom of God.  However, while we are here on earth, we have the responsibility to represent the love and compassion of God to our fellow man, and it can be accomplished by acquiring the characteristics, that a life guided by the Holy Spirit has, as mentioned above. We need to accept the external differences we see in others because, inside, we, all human beings want the same thing, which is return to God.  It doesn’t matter what name we use as we call Him.  God needs our humanity to bring His love to those who are suffering, living in anguish, or are in need of healing. We already know how it feels to suffer, and we can empathize with them; therefore, God wants to let them experience His love through us. Perhaps there are things you still don’t understand, or you have unanswered questions. If until now you have not asked, why is that? because if it was really important to you, if you have a burning desire to know something, you will look for the answer.  If you really want to know, the Holy Spirit has all the answers and, if you ask Him, He will supply the answer.   If you don’t get your answer right away, you will get it in the days that follow.  There is no good reason for not knowing.

“Your questions have no answer, being made to still God's Voice, which asks of everyone one question only: ‘Are you ready yet to help Me save the world?’ No miracle is now withheld from anyone.  The world is saved from what you thought it was.  And what it is, is wholly uncondemned and wholly pure.” ACIM CT-2.9

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51: 10.
