The Bible says: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” John 14:23. And about the Holy Spirit He said, “And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14: 16-17. We feel like we are alone and helpless, but we are not, because the Holy Trinity dwells in us. There are many times when we feel abandoned to our fate, as if no one cares about us, but it is not so. All we need to do to feel the divine presence of the Holy Spirit and of our Lord Jesus Christ so we can ask for their guidance and teaching is to ask with all our hearts that they become active in our lives, and we will never again be alone.
The Word of God says that we were created in His image and likeness. We know that God is Spirit; therefore, the likeness is at the spirit level. He made us an extension of Himself, so He shared with us some of His attributes, such as His knowledge, His peace, love, and joy. These are attributes that we temporarily lost when we tried, out of rebellion, to separate ourselves from our Father. However, when God created us, He did not program us with the capacity to change ourselves. We were only programmed to function by His side. We can only be where He placed us, and there is where we are, although dreaming that we are separated from Him, and traveling through worlds unknown. And even though we look down on the gifts that the Father gave us, the Holy Spirit safeguarded them for the day when we return to God. These attributes are in our subconscious, waiting for us to regain our reason. When our mind starts to heal, these will emerge and we will make use of them.
In addition, when God created us, He imbued us with His will. That is why God’s Will and ours is the same. There is no other will. Moreover, our happiness is tied to the mission with which He entrusted us; therefore, true happiness is contingent to the fulfillment of our mission. We can – and sometimes actually do – decide a plan for ourselves that is different from the one He gave us, but whatever happiness that brings us in only temporary because it is an illusion. We are all part of one body and each has at least one gift. If you use yours to help others, you will do it better than anyone else because that is your mission. Not everyone can teach, or heal, or be a musician, but if we work together to help and lift each other up, we will achieve the spiritual maturity that is expected of us. When we try to distinguished ourselves from the others by striving to achieve a unique level that leaves them behind, that is when the problems begin. The best thing is to compete with our own selves, with a burning desire to be closer to God every day.
When we fulfill our mission, we remain in harmony with God and with our brothers. We are no longer alone. “God's is the only Will. When you have recognized this, you have recognized that your will is His. The belief that conflict is possible has gone. Peace has replaced the strange idea that you are torn by conflicting goals. As an expression of the Will of God, you have no goal but His. There is no will but God's. I cannot be in conflict. I am at peace. Nothing can disturb me. My will is God's. My will and God's are one. God wills peace for His Son… Joy characterizes peace. By this experience will you recognize that you have reached it.” ACIM L.74
Do you want to know your life’s purpose?? What is your mission? Nothing will happen as long as you are sitting down, wishing and planning. But when you stand up with determination and take the first step the divine gear starts, and God's help arrives. You need to take the first step, and God will be with you every step of the way. So think of an activity with which you can help your fellow man, something that, as you work on it, you forget everything else, and time passes without you noticing it. Start there. Do it with love, trusting that God will open for you the next door. You have His protection.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51: 10.
