PEACE BE STILL # 15101

The Bible says, “On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, ‘Let us cross over to the other side.’ Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, ‘Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?’ Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, ‘Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith.’ And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, ‘Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!’” Mark 4: 35-41. While the disciples of Jesus Christ were troubled and distressed thinking they were going to be shipwrecked, the Teacher slept peacefully. The crew was terrified, upset that He was asleep, as if He didn’t care. They had not learned that His way of thinking was different from theirs and where God is, there are no problems and His mind was connected to God’s.

The disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ did not understand how a human being could be an extension of the mind of God and share a power with no limits. They could not assimilate what they were witnessing because they were trying to understand with limited minds. They had seen so many miracles, but each time they were surprised. The Lord Jesus Christ knew the power with which we all were created and wanted to teach us that if we unite our mind with God’s, as He did, we would be able to do the same things he was doing. He said, "He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” He was elevating them and us -- who believe in Him -- to His own level. When God makes miracles through His children, there are no degrees of difficulty or limits. God's miracles are a demonstration of His love, and each individual receives the miracle he needs. What God heals is our mind, and once the mind is healed, it translates into whatever our physical need may be.

We do not know exactly how our mind works, but is both conscious and unconscious. According to science, our conscious mind is less than a tenth of the mind’s capacity. About 97% belongs to the level of the unconscious. The unconscious is the domain of the emotions. It stores our memories and sometimes represses memories with unresolved negative emotions. It presents repressed memories for resolution, controls and maintains all perceptions, maintains instincts and generates habits; it doesn’t know the difference between truth and illusion, just accepts all as real and carries on, dos not process negatives, etc.  It is a highly advanced computer system. If we understood more about how it works, and use it properly, our lives would be totally different. As is, we don’t understand the connection between mind and body. The body is completely neutral.  By itself it can do nothing. It only does to what the mind consciously or unconsciously orders it to do.

We are such powerful beings, and the mind is all that we are. Our thoughts have a power beyond our comprehension. False thoughts carry the same power than those based on truth. And because we are part of the universal mind, we share our thoughts with anyone who is attuned to our frequency. What messages are we sharing? And what are we bringing into our lives? Our thoughts are like a two-edged sword, can be a blessing or a curse. Do we have thoughts of kindness or are we sharing resentments?  Our mind never rests, and our thoughts carry power they are never neutral. They are always creating at one level or another. It is wise, therefore, to learn what laws you are setting in motion when we choose, and to know from what alternatives we are choosing. Thoughts of fear or attack -- even though we believe them to be for our defense – or resentments due to offenses that we have not been able to let go, or when we feel victimized, or we blame others for what is happening to us, these thoughts are incubating the diseases that affect us, even though they are illusions, because they are thoughts from fear.

If we clean our minds of those thoughts that hurt us,  what remains is love, and in this way we join our minds with our source, which is God. Remember the words of the Apostle Paul who said, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things...  and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4: 8-9.

Peace is the result of a mind without conflict; therefore, it is very important to be aware of the thoughts we shelter at all times. Do not let your mind be on auto-pilot. We need to remain vigilant and take control of every thought and decision we make. You may wonder why, if we have such power, we settle for crumbs? It is because we forgot who we were. We are here trying to wake up from this nightmare in order to remember our identity. We are the beloved children of God.

Until now we have been using our power to bring limitation, smallness, and scarcity, because that is what we believe we are. We believe that God turned the other way, as if that was possible. But it doesn’t work like magic.  In order to obtain God’s power we need to do what the Lord Jesus Christ did. He united His will with the Father’s, which He said we can also do.

"I rest in God." This thought will bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, and the safety and the happiness you seek. "I rest in God."  This thought has power to wake the sleeping truth in you, whose vision sees beyond appearances to that same truth in everyone and everything there is. Here is the end of suffering for all the world, and everyone who ever came and yet will come to linger for a while. Here is the thought in which the Son of God is born again, to recognize himself…(each time you rest) a tired mind is suddenly made glad, a bird with broken wings begins to sing, a stream long dry begins to flow again. The world is born again each time you remember that you came to bring the peace of God into the world, that it might take its rest along with you. "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all."  2 Corinthians 13:14
