What a pleasure to be with you again. This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” There are always reasons to be thankful to God. If you just think about what is taking place in your life which you are aware of, and also think about things which you are not aware of, such as all the dangers from which you have been delivered, you cannot help but give thanks to God. Don’t you find that there are enough reasons to be content? Be glad to see the sun shining again, the beautiful weather we are having, the dawn at daybreak and the beauty of the sunset, the constant renewing of nature, being able to witness God’s miracles around us; There are many reasons to be joyful, includingthe kindness of the people with whom we interact. We would appreciate these encounters more if we understood that they are specially prepared by God and that He has an important reason for it. If we pay attention to it we will understand the reason why we were led that day to that particular person. There are no coincidences. That is another wonder.

Our life is what we choose to make of it. Sometimes God has for us a meeting that we may receive the answer to a question we had, or for us to offer a word of love and compassion that the other individual needs to hear. Surely both sides will benefit from the meeting, because the exchange that will take place will help us to know ourselves a little more, which is always beneficial. Our ultimate goal is to align ourselves with God and hear His Voice guiding us. Reaching this closeness with Him requires a burning desire from our part, deciding that this is the most important item in our agenda. God’s Word says Pray without ceasing” butit doesn’t mean to sit in a corner or kneel praying constantly in order to comply. We should be always aligned with Him as we go about our daily activities. When we do this, His presence fills us completely, because we feel His love, His tenderness, His patience, we know to Whom we belong, and we cannot fail to be joyful in anticipation of what He has planned for our day because we know that He will be by our side.

If God wants to lead us to see someone, He will give us instructions on what we need to say. We are His instruments, and as such He will determine what we are going to do. A hymn says "You are the potter and I am the clay" We need, therefore, to be submissive and humble to conform to His plans, making sure we are not interfering. Our satisfaction will always come from following His instructions.  In order to do that, we need to develop spiritual hearing so that we may know when it is time to speak and when it is time to be silent, when to step forward, what direction to take, and when to step aside and allow the Holy Spirit to work directly with the spirit of that person. There will be times when words are unnecessary, and all that is required of us is to share the peace of God by being there. We will enjoy the day's activities knowing that we are His. “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being.” We are His beloved children whom He is using as ambassadors.

While we are in the world we are ambassadors of the kingdom of heaven. We are representing God who sent us.  We don’t need to be concerned about what we need to say or do because we will be instructed at the precise time. We just need to keep open our communication channel with Him to receive His instructions and be able to go and do exactly as we were told. Anything that we add from ourselves will be a hindrance.  “The Voice of the Holy Spirit is weak in you.  That is why you must share It.  It must be increased in strength before you can hear It.  It is impossible to hear It in yourself while It is so weak in your mind.  It is not weak in Itself, but It is limited by your unwillingness to hear It.  If you make the mistake of looking for the Holy Spirit in yourself alone your thoughts will frighten you because, by adopting the ego's viewpoint, you are undertaking an ego-alien journey with the ego as guide.  This is bound to produce fear.”  ACIM T.5.iii.4

Perhaps the Voice of the Holy Spirit is not quite developed in you. If so, work it out.  Don’t settle for any less.  For it is only up to you, because He is totally available to help you. Much of your closeness to God rests on that. If you are deaf to His Word, how could you possibly follow His instructions? And if joy comes from doing God’s Will, how could you find real joy in your life? The joy of God is a constant joy. There is no place for being happy one moment and angry the next just because things didn’t turned out as we wanted. Let’s make sure we are acting under His Will.  Don’t become attached to the results.  The results belong to God. Remember your place.  You are the instrument, and as such you don’t determine the course or the finality.  As His messengers we are under orders 24 hours a day, every day, ready to answer the call and receive the instructions of Him Who sent us.

Jesus Christ said: “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” John 20: 21. Regardless of where we are, we are where we need to be. We are where we were taken if we are acting under the Will of God, and guided by the Holy Spirit. We are His messengers. Who could experience what His call means and not be always joyful? Having this gentleness will become second nature to us. “As my Father hath sent Me, even so send I you.”

“Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38
